So, what is on in STEM in Semester 2?
We’re glad you asked. Here are the national and international science dates we’re hanging out for:
- July
Celebrate the moon landing anniversary on July 20 or be part of Schools Trees Day on July 25
- August
It’s National Science Week month! Kick off August in your Jeans for Genes on August 1, celebrate International Day of the World’s Indigenous People on August 9, and find out all there is do to and experience as part of National Science Week from August 9.
- September
September 7 is National Threatened Species Day and September 26 is Save the Koala Day. In between there’s National Video Game Day on September 8, and World Car-Free Day on the 22nd.
- October
Spacing out? Time to celebrate World Space Week, which launches October 4 on the launch anniversary of Sputnik. You could also be part of counting over four million birds in the Aussie Bird Count, which starts on October 20, and celebrate World Teacher’s Day in Australia on 31 October.
- November
The weather’s improving, so why not head outside for Outdoor Classroom Day, November 6. This month is also home to National Recycling Week, beginning November 10, and World Science Day for Peace and Development, on November 10 too.
- December
The end of the year is nearly here! You still have time to celebrate World Wildlife Conservation Day on the 3rd December, or Energy Conservation Day on the 14th.
