Career Expeditions
Dive into a virtual world of coding careers! Here’s how.
We’ve teamed up with Google to bring you three amazing virtual career expeditions. Through the Google Expeditions app, teachers can immerse students in a day in the life of a coder. All you need to get started is a smartphone or tablet and a VR headset like Google Cardboard.
Step 1: Download the App
The teacher needs to be using their tablet, and the student can use their phone.
Step 2: Choose your role
Teachers – choose ‘Be a guide’
Students – choose ‘Be an explorer’
Make sure you’re both connected to the same Wi-Fi network so you can embark on the expedition together!
Step 3: Search for our coders
Step 4: Download and play
Click to download your expedition, make sure your student is wearing their VR headset, and you can both hit the ‘Play’ button to get started.

Step 5: Guide and explore
If you’re guiding, you’ll have a script you can read out to your students, with information about the scene they’re looking at.
Click on a circular icon to direct your student to a particular part of the scene, and refer to your script to tell them about it.
Students can look around at the 360 degree view and pick features that they’d like to know more about.

Step 6: Change scenes
There are up to six scenes in every expedition! When you’ve completed one scene, move on to the next part of the journey.
Step 7: Let students be the guide
Giving students the opportunity to teach others is a great way for them to learn. For the next coder, ask them to be the guide, and pick another student to explore.
