What do data scientists do when the 3pm work-day slump hits and they crave a chocolate break? Calculate how much Willy Wonka’s famous chocolate factory would cost to run in the real world today, of course!

Ok so we can’t guarantee that’s exactly what inspired the number crunchers (ha) at US industrial maintenance company, Advanced Technology Services, to come up with the below infographic answering that very question – all we know is we could really go for a river of chocolate right about now.

The infographic covers everything from Oompa Loompa salaries (including Taco Tuesdays – sounds like something Wonka would offer), to the cost of edible wallpaper and powering it all with renewable energy.

The grand total? Just shy of US$225 million. Worth it, IMHO.
