Sydney STEM-school open day a chance to see their college campus

Check out the Sydney school preparing students for the global STEM stage

Sydney’s STEM-centric high school Westbourne College is preparing to open its doors to prospective students in upcoming open days on May 14 and 16, where parents can see first hand what college life is like for Westbourne students.

At Westbourne College, Year 10’s STEM-focused academic programme gives students a strong start to Westbourne’s International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) in Year 11 and 12.

However, with an emphasis on STEM, students at Westbourne choose two science subjects, as opposed to the one they would normally do for the IBDP.

Westbourne College students don’t have to wait to graduate to be exposed to STEM facilities at some of Australia’s best universities. They gain hands-on experience by conducting experiments in world class university laboratories including UTS Science Superlabs and UNSW.

“Westbourne is an incredibly agile school and we seize opportunities to expose our students in both the academic and real world environments,” explains Patrick McGing, Principal.

Westbourne is launching the  “Future Leaders Lab” where students aged 15-17 head overseas for a transformative one-week experience. This year students will visit Singapore, meeting with peers from across the globe for workshops and visits to industry-leading companies.

With local and global opportunities throughout their time at Westbourne, students are encouraged to help drive their own future in STEM.

This post is brought to you in partnership with Westbourne College Sydney.

Interested in enrolling your child? Contact Karmun or Bec in Westbourne’s Admissions team or call 02  8088 0719 to start the conversation before it’s too late! Applications are open from students currently in Year 9 or 10.  Limited places available.
