And it’s all set to inspire you to kickstart a career in science, tech, engineering and maths
Get excited because we’ve all been treated to a new TikTok STEM feed that will show off important research, conservation efforts, and scientific breakthroughs! It will answer burning STEM questions and make STEM information more accessible, and this is music to our ears.
There are over 500 Australian STEM creators and global institutions on the TikTok STEM feed, including:
- Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki (@drkarl), who says, “On TikTok, I love sharing the awe and wonder of science with people. For me, one surprising change is that the average age of my audience is getting younger. The STEM feed makes it easier to find enriching, educational, videos and I’m confident it will inspire random folk to learn about subjects which are vital for Australia’s future.”
- Dr. Kirsten Banks (@astrokirsten) – you can read more about Kirsten here.
- Walt Carroll (@oneminmicro)
- Australian Museum (@australianmuseum)
- National Geographic (@natgeo)
- American Museum of Natural History (@naturalhistorymuseum)
The NSW Rural Fire Service (@nswrfs) will also be joining in, making it the first emergency service globally featured on TikTok’s STEM Feed. We’ll soon be seeing videos from the University of
Melbourne and Gilmour Space Technologies too.
Oh, and don’t worry – there will be a lot of fact-checking going on. To help ensure the reliability of the STEM content being shared, TikTok has partnerships with independent organisations Common Sense Networks and Poynter Institute. They’ll be assessing the content to make sure it’s reliable and appropriate before it goes on the feed. Phew.
You can find the new TikTok STEM feed next to the For You and Following feeds – go check it out! We’re already hooked.
