Tech companies dominate top graduate employers list for 2022

The top three graduate employers for 2022 – as voted by grads in a new survey – are all tech companies.

The Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) has published a list of the top 75 best places to land your first job straight after uni, and technology companies have dominated the top spots.

Not only are the top three companies on the list all in the tech space – technology companies make up six of the top 10 out of 75 graduate employers, announced this week.

In November and December 2021, AAGE surveyed around 3000 Australian graduates who had all joined their organisation that year. In the anonymous survey, they were asked to rate their employers on 25 different categories, including:

  • Orientation or induction program,
  • Training and development program,
  • Quality of work,
  • Career progression,
  • Supervisor or manager,
  • Compensation and benefits,
  • Work/life balance and
  • Company culture.

Topping out the list for 2022 was Servian, an Australian cloud data and IT consultancy. One of the anonymous comments on working as a grad at Servian included:

“Best learning opportunities, with nurturing, connected and inclusive environment. Gives utmost emphasis on innovation and keeping up to date with latest technology and skills.”

Servian’s 2022 graduate program is open for applications now.

Aussie tech startup success story, Canva – a user-friendly graphic design platform – was second on the list of top grad employers. Canva is recruiting software engineering grads, with graduates able to commence at any time during the year. You can find out more about kickstarting your career at Canva here.

Scoring the bronze in AAGE’s 2022 survey results was yet another tech company, global consultancy Thoughtworks. Touting itself as “home to a diverse community of passionate technologists”, Thoughtworks has vacancies for Aussie grads in its Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane locations, and is currently recruiting Graduate Software Developers, Graduate Business Analysts and Graduate Experience Designers.

Other tech companies featuring in the top 10 include New Zealand accounting software company Xero, Aussie software company Atlassian and global technology and digital transformation consultancy, Capgemini.
