What is the Tertiary Access Payment?

The Tertiary Access Payment is a one-off payment of up to $5,000 to help eligible students cover the costs of relocating for study after finishing Year 12 or equivalent.

Who is it for?

You may be eligible if:

  • You’ve finished Year 12 (or equivalent)
  • You need to move from a regional or remote area to start tertiary study
  • Your family home is not in or near a major city

Not sure if your home counts as regional or remote? No guesswork required – use the Student Regional Area Search to check.

Can I get TAP with other payments?

Yes! You can still receive the Tertiary Access Payment even if you’re getting:

  • ABSTUDY
  • Youth Allowance
  • Relocation Scholarship

Time to apply!

There are a few more details to check, so read up on who can get the Tertiary Access Payment and how to apply via the Australian Government website.

Wishing you all the best with your big move!
