PwC Australia and Get Skilled Access form strategic alliance to accelerate disability inclusion in Australian workplaces – including those in STEM
Looking for a diverse, inclusive and progressive employer? Welcome to the club! Studies have shown that not only are companies with greater diversity goals more innovative and successful, but that they’re increasingly more likely to attract and retain the right staff.
Yep, according to research 39 per cent of graduates wouldn’t even apply for a job if they thought that the workplace was not inclusive. And it starts with a non-discriminatory recruitment process – making it accessible enough to encourage applicants who bring different skills and experience to business.
Investing in inclusive leadership
Last week PwC Australia and disability inclusion consulting organisation Get Skilled Access (GSA) formed an iconic and strategic alliance – to create equitable participation opportunities across all Australian workplaces.
PwC are epic STEM employers and supporters of up-and-coming grads, who provide solutions in audit, assurance, consulting and accounting services.
And GSA? A tailored consulting service that helps organisations and industries achieve sustainable change in the area of disability inclusion and accessibility.
Founded by Dylan Alcott, Paralympian and 2022 Australian of the Year, GSA works across the private and public sectors, offering tailored consulting services that help organisations and industries achieve sustainable change in the area of disability inclusion and accessibility.
They’re big believers that organisations need to take the lead in creating inclusive and accessible workplaces, services, and products to help supercharge systemic societal change.
“We see a real opportunity for PwC and GSA to achieve large-scale systemic and impactful change towards a disability inclusive and accessible society,” says Dylan.
“We want to role model what leading practice disability inclusion looks like and what it delivers, doing this by putting lived experience at the forefront, providing opportunities and showcasing the social and economic value that being inclusive brings.”
And the coolest part about the iconic partnerships? Both PwC Australia and GSA support the achievement of Australia’s Disability Strategy at federal and state government level – with an end goal of making systemic change.
“In line with our Belonging Strategy, PwC is committed to reimagining accessible employment, and helping build accessible and inclusive workplaces across Australia,” explains PwC Australia CEO Tom Seymour.
“We know that engaging people with disability in meaningful employment brings better outcomes for business, and to society more broadly, and we advocate this through the Australian Human Rights Commission’s IncludeAbility initiative.”
As part of the alliance, GSA’s team of 25 people will be working in PwC Australia’s Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane offices from 1 May 2023.
