Discover how Jenson Mcintosh’s agriculture degree is shaping a sustainable, science-driven future
“Agriculture isn’t just farming – it’s technology, business, and the future of food.”
You don’t need to live on a farm to build a rewarding, fast-paced career in agriculture – just ask Jenson, a Sydney local who’s proving that passion and curiosity can take you far.
Jenson recently completed his Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, Jenson is already set for his next big move – a 2026 graduate role in Melbourne, applying his ag expertise in a metropolitan setting.
Driven by curiosity about where our food comes from, Jenson discovered that agriculture is a mix of science, sustainability, and innovation. “When I started studying agriculture, I quickly discovered it’s much broader than I first thought. It’s not just about farming – it’s science, business, technology, and sustainability all rolled into one,” he says.
“There are so many career paths, from research and agribusiness to international trade and supply chain management. It’s an industry full of opportunities to make a real impact.”
Growing up in Sydney, Jenson had no family ties to farming. His passion grew through independent research and discovering how innovative and essential agriculture is to Australia’s future. That curiosity led him to Charles Sturt, known for its practical, industry-connected approach and its 2,000-hectare global digital on-campus farm in Wagga Wagga NSW.
“Getting out into the paddock to apply what we learn makes the science come alive,” he says. “Plus, there’s an incredible sense of community – everyone here shares a passion for sustainability.”

As a Student Ambassador, Jenson visits schools and community events to inspire others about careers in agriculture. His coursework has also included hands-on projects, like developing a five-year business plan for a local dairy enterprise to boost efficiency and manage drought risk.
Next year, Jenson will join a leading Australian pork company as a Supply Chain Management Graduate, where he’ll help optimise operations and explore renewable energy options to meet net-zero targets.
“Agricultural science is so much more than farming – it connects to tech, business, and sustainability. If you’re curious, it can take you anywhere.”
