When businesses work together, they can utilise ‘trade credit’, which lets them buy now and pay later from suppliers – an essential tool for business growth. Tech founder Miriana Lowrie started 1Centre to help businesses transform their trade credit processes from costly and slow to quick and efficient.

“My path into the tech industry began when I started looking for a way to solve a particular pain point I had personally experienced,” says Miriana.

“When I really started looking into the problem, I discovered that it went so much deeper than I’ d ever thought possible and began to see how tech could be a game changer.”

With a business and sales background and experience in the banking sector she was ideally equipped to understand the issues businesses experience.

“It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut of doing things the way you’ve always done them, but it’s crucial in business to keep innovating, finding new and better ways to do things,” she says. With iwi from Taranaki, Miriana is also keen to help more Māori women get their start in the tech industry.

“The journey of a tech founder is a constant and difficult one, but it’s also infinitely rewarding as both a learning experience and a lifestyle.”
